Funny thought

Isn't it kind of funny the difference between ages.  These days some boys wear their pants super low, some much to low for anyone's taste, and some old men wear their pants pulled up super high. I think both problems have something to do with plumbers, one generation idealizes them, the other doesn't want to be correlated with them.

Quote of the Day

"Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and therefore the fount of all invention and innovation. In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power to that enables us to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared."
                       -J.K. Rowling

A List of 3 Things I Suggest You Should Never Do

1. Wash and wax a large motor home, believe me it is worse than it sounds
2. Go on a hike that goes through a river that is surprisingly deep, if you are to light, you tend to float away, especially if you don't have a large group hiking through linking arms.
3. Pull a prank with your friends that makes the camp of kids your with believe that you're extremely sick and that it might be contagious.  The kids who were pranked tend to give you an evil eye and think of scary ways of revenge; namely stealing, freezing, and roasting clothing items or threatening to soak you with water and itching powder while you sleep.  Though sometimes it may be worth it.   ;)

Family Camp

Earlier this week I got back from camping with my family, including some extended family.  Being away from the beach, trees, and mountains.  I am really disappointed that it is over.  Being there was just sooooo relaxing. not to mention my resident high school starts up next week.  My summer is ending and it feels like it just barely began, excuse the cliche there.  My only comfort is that I will be able to see all my friends again.

Quote of the Day

"Ah, summer, what power you have to make us suffer and like it."
             -Russell Baker

Summer, when people love to go lay out in blistering heat and schedule things for every minute or schedule nothing at all.

Energizing Nature

The other day I found myself in a cherry orchard and decided that, as I headed down it to get my lunch, that I would run down through most of the orchard.  it felt soooo good.  I was able to breathe in that amazing smell of cherries, trees, leaves, and grass (or nature at its best).  With every breathe it was exhilarating.  I just wanted to run forever, and this coming from someone who doesn't enjoy running.  This type of air is so much better and cleansing than air you would find in a town or large city.  I absolutely love it!

Watching a Movie

After reading a book, it sometimes is hard to watch a movie based off it.  You already have a mind-set of what you expect and when that doesn't happen it is hard to accept that, though sometimes the movie meets and exceeds what you expected.

Quote of the Day

"Everywhere is within walking distance if you have the time."
            -Steven Wright

The other day my sister told us that the distance from her college to our town was  an eighteen day, 10 hours, and something odd minutes continuous walk, now that is walking a far distance if you have the time.

Real Cruelty

Based on recent events I have been thinking about animal cruelty. I have done none in my life but have seen animals affected by it.  I simply do not understand why people insist on leaving pets in an out-of-area location just because they no longer want to care for them. They leave these poor animals to fend for themselves in an unknown area after they have grown used to depending on their owners to care and provide for them.  I simply do not understand how they could simply leave these animals alone.  I wonder how they are able to leave these animals because, in most cases you will grow attached to them within seconds and want to protect them from anything that might harm them, though there they are harming the animal themselves, also they break the law.  We see cases of strays every day and look on them as disgusting and think of them as annoying.  What we fail to realize is what they have gone through, they were abandoned by their family and forced to search for food and shelter for potentially all their life.  I may not understand why these people leave their pets, and i met never understand.  They may have a reason for leaving the pet, but to me, it always seems like there is another way that would not harm the pet in such a cruel manner.

A word to the wise ain't necessary - it's the stupid ones that need the advice.

Quote of the Day

"The best cure for insomnia is to get a lot of sleep."
               -W.C. Fields

Right now sleep is a wonderful thing, it relaxes the body and the mind, and makes your mood better becuase you are not falling over in exhaustion.

Quote of the Day

"Women don't want to hear what you think. Women want to hear what they think - in a deeper voice."
            -Bill Cosby

How true is this quote. Whenever a woman asks a guy a question, it seems that she already had the answer in her mind and won't settle for anything else until she hears it. (Unless she finds the guy's answer better than what she was expecting.)

Today's Quote

"Books, like friends, should be few and well chosen.  Like friends, too, we should return to them again and again for, like true friends, they will never fail us - never cease to instruct - never cloy."
        -Charles Caleb Colton

We can only hope to find friends like this, and books as well.  A good book may turn out to be a true, good friend for they are constant, always there to turn to, and full of emotion.

Relay For Life

The legendary Relay for Life has once again come to my little town.  It is amazing how much we as a community participate in the relay.  Once you are there you are really able to remember everyone you know who has had cancer and that acts as a motivator for the relay.  Each person in the relay has a reason for relaying, mine is my brother, grandmother, and great-grandfather.  I also have friends and others that I know who have had cancer, some of which overcame amazing odds to live and to help others fight.  When I am there I am overcome by a drive to continue on in the relay.  Ours is an all-night relay and I usually want to walk almost every hour.  My first relay I walked so long that I was limping and stumbling around the track by seven in the morning.  The relay begins tomorrow.  I am looking forward to participating with my team and walking with my friends around the track to help fight against cancer and to fight to find the cure.

From the first day that we had our puppy, she already was making herself at home!! Especially in our laps!!!

An Amazing Quote

"Sometimes I am confused by what I think is really obvious.  But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious..."
Hmmm...
               -Michael Stipe
Just give it some thought, does it make sense? If it does you "obviously" have felt this way before, if not you obviously have not felt this way, or is it that obvious???
